Former world boys’ doubles champions Chooi Kah Ming/Ow Yao Han also knocked out Cheng Heng Su/Yang Po-Hsuan of Taiwan 21-12, 21-11, while Ong Yew Sin/Teo Ee Yi played in fine form after fighting back from one set down to beat No. 6 seeds Wahyu Nayaka Arya Pankaryanira/Ade Yusuf of Indonesia 21-16, 19-21, 21-10 on Wednesday.

Lim Khim Wah and Hoon Thien How did not have to break sweat as they were granted a walkover by Philip Joper Escueta/Ronel Estanislao of Philippines.

On the men’s side, 3 months after his mother had passed away, Goh Soon Huat showed some signs of regaining his form by defeating Lee Cheuk Yiu of Hong Kong 21-18, 21-15 in 39 minutes. Unfortunately, with his 2016 Olympic dream about to slip away, Chong Wei Feng suffered yet another heart breaking loss in round 2 of Macau Open where he was sent packing by Qiao Bin in 40 minutes, losing 21-16, 21-8.

In the mixed doubles, Tan Kian Meng/Lai Pei Jing fought hard but No. 4 seeds Edi Subaktiar/Gloria Emanuelle Widjaja of Indonesia proved too strong for the Malaysian pair with Tan/Lai ended up losing the match 21-23, 24-22, 10-21. On the other hand, other Malaysian mixed doubles Tan Chee Tean/Chow Mei Kuan were pushed into three-sets before prevailing 21-17, 15-21 and 21-13 over Taiwan’s Lu Ching Yao/Chiang Kai Hsin.

Meanwhile, Chow Mei Kuan/Lai Pei Jing were made to work hard by China’s Du Yue/Li Yinhui before battling through to the women’s doubles second round with a 21-19, 16-21, 21-14 victory against the Chinese pair. Chow/Lai will face No. 6 seeds Jung Kyung Eun/Shin Seung Chan of South Korea next.
