Denmark, Russia to meet in European Mixed Team Badminton Championships final

Playing against Germany in the semi-finals on Saturday, Denmark’s campaign got off to a bright start when Joachim Fischer Nielsen/Christinna Pedersen beat Germany’s Isabel Herttrich and Mark Lamsfuss 21-12, 21-17 in the mixed doubles match.

Denmark and Germany were levelled with a point each after Denmark’s World No. 3 men’s singles player Viktor Axelsen was struggling and was beaten by Germany’s Fabian Roth 18-21, 21-10, 18-21.

On the other hand, Denmark’s World No. 23 women’s singles player Line Kjaersfeldt has left her recent poor form behind, came from a set down to see off Fabienne Deprez 14-21, 21-11, 21-7 to put Denmark ahead with 2-1.

Denmark’s World No. 2 men’s doubles player Mathias Boe and Carsten Mogensen showed their class once again to get past Mark Lamsfuss and Josche Zurwonne 21-17, 21-13 to seal the victory for Denmark.

Denmark will face Russia in Sunday’s final after Russia upset England 3-1 in other semi-final tie.
