Goh Liu Ying embraces challenges from young Malaysian mixed doubles pairs

Kuala Lumpur: Rio Olympics mixed doubles silver medalist Goh Liu Ying who is accepting stem-cell injections treatment after aggravated her knee injury earlier this year, was glad to see several young Malaysian mixed doubles pairs have started to flourish in international tournaments.Goh Liu Ying wishes everyone a Happy Chinese New Year. The World No. 7 Goh Liu Ying and her mixed doubles partner Chan Peng Soon have played together since 2009. In the latest Badminton World Federation (BWF) rankings, they were followed closely by their juniors World No. 9 Tan Kian Meng/Lai Pei Jing, while another mixed doubles pair the World No. 50 Goh Soon Huat/Shevon Jemie Lai also has huge potential to rise through the ranks fairly quickly.

“The mixed doubles pairs are in high spirit and strong sense of togetherness. Every morning, Peng Soon motivate the team to stay united and we are happy for the successes our junior pairs have achieved,” said Goh.

The mixed doubles specialist Goh Liu Ying has undergone surgeries to repair both of her damaged knees in 2014 before she and Chan Peng Soon achieved huge breakthrough in their career by winning the silver medal in Rio Olympics.

Goh has been absence from two tournaments so far this year, she is expected to play at the German Open from Feb 28th to March 5th and All England that will be held from March 7 to March 12.
