The Singapore Open was their third meeting this year, with their previous battles taking place in the second round of the Malaysia Open and the quarter-finals of the All England. Both matches went down to the wire, with Ginting emerging victorious in Malaysia Open, followed by Anders Antonsen getting his revenge at the All-England. Now, Ginting has once again triumphed over Antonsen.

This was Ginting’s seventh tournament appearance this year, reaching the final for the second time. On both occasions, he emerged as the champion, having previously won the Badminton Asia Championships.

Antonsen who picked up an injury in 2022, took some time off during the second half of 2022 to rest and recuperate saw his world ranking drop from a high of World No. 2 to World No. 22. With his defeat in this final, he missed the opportunity to claim another championship following his victory at the European Championships in May 2021.

In the men’s doubles final, Japan’s World No. 6 Takuro Hoki/Yugo Kobayashi overcame China’s World No. 3 Liang Weikeng/Wang Chang 21-13, 21-18, ending their 10-month title drought and winning their first title since the 2022 Malaysia Open.
