Taipei: The 61st edition of the Badminton Asia Championships is scheduled to begin on April 25th in Dubai. Tai Tzu-Ying, the world’s fourth-ranked female badminton player from Taiwan, will compete for her third personal championship title in the tournament’s history. If she succeeds, Tai will become the fourth person in the history of the competition to achieve this feat.

Tai Tzuying achieved great success at the 2017, and 2018 Badminton Asia Championships, having won 2 gold medals and she also won 1 bronze medal in 2015.

In the first round, Tai Tzu Ying will face World No. 29 Yeo Jiamin of Singapore. If she advances to the top 8, she could potentially face Chinese player He Bingjiao. It will be interesting to see how Tai Tzu Ying performs against strong opponents such as He Bingjiao as she aims for another Asia Championships win.

Tai Tzu Ying can make history at the 2023 Asia Championships by becoming the first non-China or Hong Kong player to win three or more women’s singles championships. Currently, only three players have achieved this feat in the history of the competition: China’s Ye Zhaoying, who has won five championships, while Wang Yihan and Hong Kong’s Wang Chen, who have both won three championships.

It will certainly be challenging for Tai Tzu Ying to reach this milestone, especially given the strong competition from top players like Akane Yamaguchi, An Se-young of Korea, and Chen Yufei from China. However, Tai Tzu Ying has proven herself to become a formidable opponent on the court, and it will be exciting to see if she can make history by winning her third women’s singles championship at the Asia Championships.
