Basel: Goh Sze Fei/Nur Izzuddin continued their bid for a second career BWF World Tour title at the Swiss Open with a comprehensive straight-sets 21-18, 21-18 victory over Indonesia’s World No. 23 Pramudya Kusumawardana/Yeremia Erich Yoche Yacob Rambitan on Saturday.

The World No. 18 Goh/Izzuddin will meet another Indonesian pair – World No. 9 Fajar Alfian/Muhammad Rian Ardianto in the final.

Although Alfian/Ardianto held a 3-1 career meeting record against Goh/Izzuddin, Goh/Izzuddin won their last encounter at the 2021 Denmark Open quarter-finals with 21-18, 21-17.

Meanwhile, Alfian/Ardianto survived a massive scare against World No. 8 Aaron Chia/Soh Wooi Yik of Malaysia, beating Chia/Soh 22-20, 13-21, 21-8 before advancing to the final.

In an all-Malaysian mixed doubles semi-finals, World No. 13 Goh Soon Huat/Shevon Jemie Lai weathered a stern test from the impressive World No. 10 Tan Kian Meng/Lai Pei Jing, successfully winning the semi-final match 21-17, 24-22 through constantly quick returns at Tan/Lai’s left and right backcourt which often caught the World No. 10 mixed pair off guard. Goh/Lai will meet World No. 15 Mark Lamsfuss/Isabel Lohau of Germany in the final.

The women’s doubles semi-final saw World No. 9 Gabriela/Stefani Stoeva of Bulgaria fended off World No. 44 Vivian Hoo/Lim Chiew Siean of Malaysia 21-10, 21-16 to set up a final meeting with Linda Efler/Isabel Lohau of Germany.

In the singles categories, India’s PV Sindhu will take on Busanan Ongbamrungphan of Thailand in the women’s singles final, while another Indian player, HS Prannoy will face-off against Jonatan Christie of Indonesia for the men’s singles crown.
