Mumbai: India’s PV Sindhu shined in the fourth season of Premier Badminton League (PBL) that kicked off on December 22, where her team “Hyderabad Hunters” destroyed “Pune 7 Aces” 6 to -1 in the opening tie of the season.

The biggest match-up on Saturday was between Hyderabad’s PV Sindhu and Pune’s Carolina Marin.

Although Hyderabad had already clinched the tie with wins in the first three matches, the blockbuster clash between PV Sindhu and Carolina Marin was one of the most storied match-ups of the day.

Marin was off to a great start when she took the first game 15-11. However, Sindhu seemed to be different player altogether in the second game as she has raced away to a 5-0 lead in the before taking the second set 15-8.

Marin made some unforced errors to allow Sindhu to lead at 5-2 in the final game. But Carolina Marin was playing with aggressive style to tie Sindhu at 11-11 in the decider. Nevertheless, Sindhu was able to hold her nerves to win the final game 15-13.

Earlier in the tie, Dutchman Mark Caljouw claimed the first point for Hyderabad in the first men’s singles match, before Kim Sa Rang and Bodin Isara score the second point for Hyderabad in the men’s doubles match.

Lee Hyun Il finished the tie in favor of Hyderabad Hunters when he overcame Brice Leverdez of France of “Pune 7 Aces” 15-14, 15-12 in the second men’s singles match.

The final match was the mixed doubles competition between Vladimir Ivanov/Line Kjaersfelf against Kim Sa Rang/Eom Hye Won. Kim/Eom managed to maintain the Hunters’ winning streak as they defeat Ivanov/Line in straight games 15-14, 15-11.
