The Singapore Open final will serve as a tantalizing rematch of last Sunday’s Malaysia Open final where Tai beat Marin 23-25, 22-20, 21-13 to clinch the women’s singles title.

Tai defeated Zhang Beiwen of the United States 21-19, 21-15 on Saturday to advance to the final. She told reporters that her biggest challenge in Sunday’s final will be herself, and highlighted that she needs to cut down her mistakes in order to topple Marin.

“If I continue to make a lot of errors like I did today, I will lose the final very quickly,” said Tai.

As for Carolina Marin, she saw off No. 2 seed Sung Ji Hyun of Korea 21-9, 21-12 to cruise into the final. The Spaniard is determined to lift her first title since the Olympics on Sunday.

“I am looking forward to win the Singapore Open title on Sunday,” said Marin.

The women’s doubles final will also see a rematch of the Rio Olympic final between Denmark’s Kamilla Rytter Juhl and Christinna Pedersen, and Japan’s Ayaka Takahashi and Misaki Matsutomo.
