Chong Wei Feng turned in his resignation letter on Monday and has been approved to leave BAM on May 1st.

The Kedah-born player joined the Malaysia national squad in 2004 at the age of 17, and his biggest achievements to date were helping Malaysia reached the 2014 Thomas Cup final, and winning gold medal at the 2015 Singapore SEA Games.

“It’s very difficult and it took me long time to come up with this decision,” said Chong.

“Failure to make the Olympics was one of the factors that triggered my intention to quit,” added Chong.

Meanwhile, BAM’s Technical Director, Morten Frost Hansen has reassured Chong Wei Feng although he is no longer playing for BAM, but Chong will still be given consideration for the 2016 Malaysian Thomas Cup squad.

“We respect Wei Feng’s decision, and we thank him for his contributions to the country,” said Frost.

Chong is the fourth player who has left BAM since January this year, former French Open champion Daren Liew left BAM in January, while Tan Aik Quan and Tan Jinn Hwaa have made same the decisions last month.
