Lee Chong Wei in US Open quarters, ready for world championships

Badminton fans want to see the famous rivalry between Lee Chong Wei and Lin Dan at this year's world championships.

Jakarta: It seems pretty clear that this year’s BWF World Championships that will be held in Jakarta from 10-16 August 2015, would produce some greatest badminton match ever played.

All top-eight shuttlers in the world of both men’s singles and women’s singles will compete in Jakarta, as they all know that everyone in the world is watching them and the world meet is a great chance to improve their rankings and reputation, whilst at the same time playing at a celebrated event.Badminton fans want to see the famous rivalry between Lee Chong Wei and Lin Dan at this year's world championships.

Lee Chong Wei who is now playing in New York for the US Open Grand Prix Gold, survived a surprisingly competitive two-set encounter against Kai Guo from China in the 3rd round, winning 21-17, 22-20 to advance to the US Open quarter-finals on Thursday. Lee who is looking forward to another bid for the world title would be a huge crowd puller during the world meet.

Reigning champion China’s Chen Long has prepared to defend his title at the world championships. If at all possible, badminton fans really hoping to see the Lee Chong Wei-Lin Dan’s strong rivalry at the world meet. Jan O Jorgensen of Denmark, Kidambi Srikanth of India, Son Wan Ho of Korea, Wang Zhengming of China, Chou Tien Chen of Taiwan and Kento Momota of Japan will all return to the fray as majors contenders for the world championship title.

The intense competition in women’s singles definitely will be another attraction to this year’s world championships. China will send three direct entries through Li Xuerui ,Wang Shixian and Wang Yihan; while Saina Nehwal of India, defending champion Carolina Marin of Spain and Ratchanok Intanon of Thailand all have a shot at the title.

Women’s singles world junior champion Akane Yamaguchi however has decided to play in a high-school championship in Japan rather than the World Championships.
