Chen Long takes on K. Srikanth in the Dubai Superseries semi-final

Srikanth told reporter after the match that much of his recent good form was due to the hard work he has put in during the past six months. “There is really no secret to what I am doing on the court. I have been working hard with my coach (P. Gopichand) for the past few months and now this work is being seen with the results,” he said.

As for Jan O Jorgensen of Denmark, he was in a must-win situation on Friday after his surprise loss to Kento Momota on Thursday.

“Srikanth just needed to win one set to secure a place in semi-final; while I had to keep doing my best, keep getting every shuttle over the net. You could see he was a bit slow in the second and third. I’m happy to come through even though I was struggling,” said Jorgensen.

“Srikanth is a bit like Momota, rallying around and with killer shots. Actually, I had the same game plan as I did (against Momota) but I didn’t pull it off yesterday. He just needed one game, and I just needed to push hard in two others. It’s tough to know you’re through and then to see this crazy Danish guy fighting all he can.”

Srikanth will take on world number two Chen Long of China in the semi-final, while Jorgensen will fight compatriot Hans-kristian Vittinghus for a spot at the finals
