“It’s amazing. My last final in German Open was in 2018, and my last title was the 2020 Thailand Masters. I am really happy,” said Ng after the match.

“At the beginning of the second set, I had an injury, I felt a little pain in my Achilles tendon. At that time, I thought I needed to give up the match. But I told myself I was leading at the score, why not give it a try,” added Ng.

“When I got back to the court, I kept trying, and after I successfully won the second game, I pushed myself to the limit and fortunately I was able to win the match,” explained Ng.

Meanwhile, Li was impressed with Ng’s fighting, especially after the medical time-out.

“I lost my patience and didn’t take good care of the shots during the crucial moments,” said Li.

In women’s singles, Akane Yamaguchi of Japan extended her career head-to-head win over An Se Young to 12-6 after beating the Korean 21-11, 21-14 in the final.
