Highlights of Ong Yew Sin/Teo Ee Yi vs. Fajar Alfian/Muhammad Rian Ardianto at the 2022 BWF World Tour Finals:

“Fajar and Rian are having a great year, but we didn’t think too much about their previous performances,” said Teo.

“We also don’t think about whether we win or lose because the important thing is that we give our best and finally we won,” added Teo.

Ong/Teo have been drawn to play Mohammad Ahsan/Hendra Setiawan in the semi-finals, while Fajar Alfian/Muhammad Rian Ardianto will battle Liu Yu Chen/Ou Xuan Yi for a final berth.

In men’s singles, although Viktor Axelsen lost his last Group A match to HS Prannoy 21-14, 17-21, 18-21, he still qualified for the semi-finals. The World No. 1 Axelsen will play Kodai Naraoka in the last four while Anthony Sinisuka Ginting has been drawn to meet Jonatan Christie in another men’s singles semi-final.

The women’s singles final four saw the rematch of both Tai Tzu Ying versus He Bing Jiao and Chen Yu Fei versus Akane Yamaguchi in the group stage a few days ago.

Tai lost to He Bing Jiao 19-21, 19-21 in their first Group B match on Wednesday while Chen Yu Fei defeated Akane Yamaguchi 21-19, 21-18 in their second Group A match on Thursday. It remains to be seen if the semi-final results amongst these four women’s singles players would stay the same as the group stage.

Chen Qing Chen/Jia Yi Fan who survived a spirited challenge from Zhang Shu Xian/Zheng Yu to win their first Group B match 21-18, 17-21, 21-14 on Wednesday were drawn to face their compatriots again in the semi-finals.

Meanwhile, Benyapa Aimsaard/Nuntakarn Aimsaard who outlasted Jeong Na Eun/Kim Hye Jeong 21-15, 21-8 in the women’s doubles Group A match on Friday will cross sword again on Saturday for a spot in the women’s doubles final.
