Jakarta: Indonesia’s World No. 16 men’s doubles player – Yeremia Rambitan who partnered with Pramudya Kusumawardana and won the 2022 Badminton Asia Championships (BAC) men’s doubles gold medal on May 1, 2022, in Manila, Philippines, got himself into trouble when he was filmed using profanity during a TikTok live broadcast.

In the video, Yeremia was wearing the Indonesian jersey for the SEA Games and was joking with his teammates on a bus.

Rambitan was then heard saying “I love you, and I want to f*** you”, and his teammates responded with laughter.

As of Tuesday, the Badminton Association of Indonesia (PBSI) has refused to comment on the inappropriate remarks from Rambitan, instead, the association would rather first hear the explanation from Rambitan and the coaches, upon their arrival in Indonesia.

“They are on their way home. Currently, they are still in Singapore. They will arrive Tuesday evening,” said spoke person from PBSI.

The Indonesian badminton team just completed their competition at the 2021 SEA Games, where Yeremia Rambitan/Pramudya Kusumawardana lost to compatriots Leo Rolly Carnando/Daniel Marthin 17–21, 19–21 in the men’s doubles final.

When the video first appeared on social media, the Indonesian men’s doubles coach Aryono Miranat issued an apology on behalf of his players.

“I wasn’t on the bus with them, and I just got off the plane. Actually, there’s no reason to joke around like that. Yes, their behavior was very wrong,” said Aryono.

“I have asked him to apologize and not to repeat this anymore,” added Aryono.
