Kaohsiung: The Kaohsiung Main Public Library has tapped World No. 1 women’s singles player, Tai Tzu Ying, as its ambassador for Book Lending Project, charged with promoting literacy and encouraging reading for citizens of Kaohsiung, the third-largest city of Taiwan after New Taipei and Taichung.
After beating Chen Yufei of China 21-19, 21-15 in 2020 All England final, Tai has not competed in any international tournament due to the COVID-19 pandemic. However, her popularity has landed her several endorsements. In October of 2020, she was also selected by Kaohsiung’s Tourism Bureau as the city’s autumn and winter tourism ambassador.
The 26-year-old who is also a native of Kaohsiung recommended two of her favorite books to her fans.
“Occasionally, I had some setbacks in the competition or practice. Reading is a good way to relieve stress and to get me back up, moving my mind into a more positive perspective,” said Tai.
“This is one of my favorite books – The Missing Piece, it taught me to not care too much about winning or losing, but focus on getting better instead,” added Tai.
“Everyone who knows me knows I love dogs, this book has a lot of photos and articles about dogs, and it’s a lot of fun reading this book,” continued Tai.
Tai is currently preparing herself for the three back-to-back Asia leg tournaments that will take place in Bangkok in January 2021.
