Copenhagen: Anders Antonsen got disappointing news for badminton fans around the world as the World No. 3 from Denmark announced he was tested positive for COVID-19 via Instagram on Wednesday.

Antonsen posted a message that stated:

“Hey Guys. An update from me. Unfortunately I tested positive with COVID-19 last week. I felt sick for a few days but nothing too bad. By now I feel fine and have been doing so for a few days. I hope to get back to practice really soon and continue my preparations for the tournaments coming up in January. Take care out there and stay safe!🙏”

According to Denmark’s TV2 Sport, the reigning Denmark Open champion was diagnosed with the coronavirus last Friday after playing a team match in Aarhus.

The 23-year-old is now in self-isolation, and some people who came in close contact with Antonsen during the team match in Aarhus have also placed themselves in quarantine.

“I have contacted all people who came in close contact with me. I have no idea how or where I got infected. Fortunately, I have not heard of anyone who got sick because of me,” said Antonsen.
