Seoul: Former World No. 1 men’s doubles player and the 2008 Olympic mixed doubles gold medalist Lee Yong-Dae of Korea has filed for divorce after just under two years of marriage with Korean actress Byun Soo Mi (Han Soo Hyun).

Lee, 30, is the father of their daughter named Ye Bin who is 1.5 years old.

The pair have reportedly been living separately for slightly more than a year. A middleman representing both parties told Korean media that the divorce of Lee Yong Dae and Byun Soo Mi was already underway: “They are currently working on the divorce, and their daughter’s custody issue.”

Someone from Lee Yong Dae side has confirmed that: “The two sides have filed for divorce due to irreconcilable differences.”

Lee is regarded as one of the best double players in the history of badminton. He decided to retire from badminton at the end of 2016. However, he changed his mind and made a comeback to compete professionally in mid-2018 by partnering Kim Gi Jung in men’s doubles.
