Beijing: After years of keeping their relationship a secret, Zhang Nan, who won the London mixed doubles gold medal partnering Zhao Yunlei (who was also his ex-girlfriend), and the Rio Olympic men’s doubles gold medal partnering Fu Haifeng, has tied the knot Friday with Tian Qing, her ex-girlfriend’s women’s doubles partner.
I know, it’s a little bit complicated to explain.
To make things even more interesting, Tian also won the Rio Olympic women’s doubles gold with Zhao Yunlei.
Zhang Nan and Tian Qing have been reportedly dating before the 2016 Rio Olympic, with Zhang splitting from Zhao, and Zhao ultimately refused to play with Tian in the Rio Olympic even though they were ranked No. 4 in the Race to Rio – BWF Olympic Qualification rankings.
As reported by BadmintonPlanet.com, one day after Zhang Nan/Fu Haifeng won the Rio Olympic gold medal, Zhao Yunlei immediately posted a message on her social media page admitted the couple has ended their relationship prior to the Rio Olympics.
Zhao Yunlei eventually married Hong Wei (a men’s doubles player from China) on June 2018, and now Zhang Nan and Tian Qing are finally, definitely, officially married.
