Almere: Soong Joo Ven and Cheam June Wei were both through to the Dutch Open third round as they capped off easy second round victories on Wednesday.

The World No. 84 Soong has been outstanding in the second round as he eased past Luka Wraber of Austria 21-14, 21-8 in 34 minutes.

Soong will set up a third round battle with No. 7 seed Pablo Abian of Spain on Thursday.

Meanwhile, it was curtains for Malaysian men’s doubles player Lim Khim Wah with his Indian partner Tarun Kona, crashing out to No. 7 seeds Arjun M.R./Ramchandran Shlok of India 16-21, 21-17, 15-21 in a hard-fought battle that lasted 47 minutes.
