Huelva: Viktor Axelsen of Denmark once again has proven that the sport of badminton is slowing entering a new era of his dominance when he blew past Brice Leverdez of France 21-7, 21-9 to reach the European Championships final on Saturday.

The World No. 1 Dane will take on Rajiv Ouseph of England in the final. Ouseph, on the other hand, was pushed to the limit by former European champion Jan O Jorgensen before emerged victorious from the semi-final match 21-17, 18-21, 21-15.

In women’s singles, Rio Olympic champion Carolina Marin of Spain came back from 4-9 to eventually take the first set against No. 3 seed Mia Blichfeldt of Denmark 21-17.

In mixed doubles, No. 1 seeds Chris and Gabby Adcock managed to survive a massive test against Germany’s Mark Lamsfuss and Isabel Herttrich, saving two match points to finally overcome the Germany pair 21-17, 15-21, 25-23 in the semi-finals.

Next up, Chris and Gabby Adcock will take on Mathias Christiansen and Christinna Pedersen of Denmark, who beat England’s Marcus Ellis and Lauren Smith 21-16, 19-21, 21-12 in another semi-final.
