Kuala Lumpur: World No. 10 Jan Jorgensen’s injury woes continue as he withdrew from this year’s World Championships.

In the latest setback to an already underperformed season, Jorgensen was forced to pull out from the World meet on Tuesday because of a recurring heel injury.

Jorgensen’s health has become a major concern during a deflating season in which he has played in only three tournaments so far this year. He lost in the second round at the All England in March, went down to Kidambi Srikanth in the second round of Indonesia Open, and was forced to retire half way through the decider against Indonesia’s Anthony Ginting in the first round of the Australian Open.

With Jorgensen’s withdrawal, Emil Host has accepted the invitation from Badminton World Federation (BWF) to join fellow-Danes Viktor Axelsen, Hans-Kristian Solberg Vittinghus and Anders Antonsen in Glasgow, Scotland.

  1. Jan Jorgensen in a versatile player with a pretty good win/lose record against top players. His high ranking speaks for itself. You simply don’t luck into such an enviable position without hard work, training and dedication. Too bad about his heel injury because he would have been a force to reckon with also. Great player! Cheers!
