Lee Chong Wei remains at No. 2 of BWF rankings, no changes in top 10

Kuala Lumpur: Malaysian badminton superstar continued to stay at the No. 2 spot of men’s Badminton World Federation (BWF) world singles rankings released on Thursday, in a week with no changes in the top 10.

Lee fell to No. 3 spot in the week of June 8th, and has retained the No. 2 ranking since June 22nd.

In the first place was Korea’s Son Wan Ho, with 72,968 points.

The remaining places in the top 10 were rounded out by Viktor Axelsen, Shi Yuqi, Chen Long, Chou Tien Chen, Lin Dan, Kidambi Srikanth, Angus Ng Ka Long, and Jan O Jorgensen.

Meanwhile, Malaysia’s Lee Zii Jia broke into the top 100 of the latest BWF rankings, ranked 75th a week after the 19-year-old advanced to the semi-finals of Chinese Taipei Open last Saturday.

Taiwanese women’s singles player Tai Tzu Ying, held on to the top spot while Akane Yamaguchi, Sung Ji Hyun, Carolina Marin, Pusarla V. Sindhu continued in second, third, fourth and fifth place respectively.

In men’s doubles, Mathias Boe/Carsten Mogensen of Denmark overtook Li Junhui/Liu Yuchen of China at No. 1 in the latest BWF rankings, snapping the Chinese pair’s 2-week run at the top.
